The Project

  • Growing up in Huntly, I’ve been exposed to the singing of tradition bearers from a young age through competitive ballad singing. With a passion for folksong in all its forms, I aim to keep the songs of North East singers alive, but showcase them in a fresh and innovative way. I am a student of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and I perform in the North East vernacular, Doric.
  • In 2016, I released a self-funded EP, East (I’m now poor!), played at lovely venues and had a trip out to Italy with my band. I plan to record my debut album this year and release it on the 16th January 2018. But because I’m a full time student, I am disqualified from applying to most art funds.
  • I hope to fund the entire album to pay for musicians, studio hire, production, mixing and mastering, design and artwork, duplication, licensing, PR, promotional materials, video to name a few costs. It all adds up. Anything donated helps to make this happen! Albums are costly – £9000 is the minimum that they can be made for, but I’d like to raise as much as possible.
