The Iona Fyfe Band, an up and coming folksong band, encapsulate the essence of North East Folksong Tradition. Fronted by Iona Fyfe, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Finalist 2017, the band showcases the rich wealth of Aberdeenshire folksong in a contemporary yet sympathetic way. Featuring Luc McNally (guitar/vocals), Charlie Grey (fiddle), Callum Cronin (double bass) and guest Ross Miller (pipes/whistles), the band look forward to performing at various UK folk clubs and festivals such as Sark Folk Festival, Stonehaven Folk Festival as well as some trips abroad. The band have previously performed at Celtic Connections, Folkest International Folk Festival in Italy.
The band shines new light on source material whilst combining driving tune sets to create a high-energy performance geared towards North East Song-Styles. The Iona Fyfe Band is a finalist in the Hands up for Trad 2017 competition, Battle of the Folk Bands.
The band launched their suitably-titled CD, ‘East’, in July 2016. The 6-track EP highlights the dialect, heritage, history and culture of the North East – including bothy ballads, love songs and ballads alike.

“Listening to East, you’d think this was a group of musicians who’d been playing together for a considerable length of time; the instruments so well matched and the pace so perfectly set. East is an excellent taster of what Iona Fyfe and her band have to offer…”  – Folk Radio UK
